260 Bowrider Press Release

Innovative Styling and Innate Functionality Highlight the Formula 260 Bowrider

Decatur, IN—Formula has advanced its stable of thoroughbred day boats with the addition of the 260 Bowrider. This creation of John Adams, Formula’s exclusive designer for over 35 years, the 260 Bowrider extends the striking design and smart ergonomics of the 260 Sun Sport to the open bow platform. The 260 BR offers more features and amenities than other boats of its size, melding luxury and performance in the traditional Formula fashion. Sporting a 22-degree deadrise consistent with its legendary performance heritage, the 260 Sun Sport measures 28' with an 8'6" beam.

This entry in the Formula day boat family enjoys the elegant lines and sleek styling that have traditionally set apart its predecessors. The transom entry door to port offers easy cockpit access from the truly usable, deep swim platform. Formula’s flawless molded nonskid is integrated into all logical boarding areas, making for safe entry into the boat from dockside. The expansive and eminently livable cockpit boasts plenty of space for everything needed to spend an entire day on the water with family or friends. A starboard-side, U-shaped lounge offers generous seating accommodations. Add the optional table for a snack or a game, or add the filler cushion for a spacious sunning area that truly adds to the functionality of the cockpit.

Opposite the cockpit lounge is the integrated wetbar, a feature that Formula has perfected to clever practicality. This sleek, continuous-molded fiberglass unit with two separate compartments lends itself perfectly to your on-water entertaining. The aft section is a large molded-in sink. Forward, Formula conceals a trash receptacle and a standard 171⁄2-quart Igloo® cooler, each contained in its own dedicated compartment specifically designed to secure contents while underway. An acrylic door below reveals substantial storage as well as access to the battery switch and breaker panel.

A generous sculpted portside lounge forward of the wetbar blends into a graceful curve, offering a reclining lounge or seating for two. The double-wide command seat is designed with a special dual-position helm section. Tipping up the bottom section on the starboard half of the seat enables the driver to choose a standing, leaning or sitting position against the seat’s well-padded edge.

In true Formula style, cockpit storage is both logical and plentiful. The aft seat backrest lifts up for integrated storage of the two standard fenders, while another storage compartment is located beneath the aft lounge seating area. The double port seat offers a deep storage area, and even the command seat has storage below. An extra-large, in-floor ski locker provides more room for skis, water toys or PFDs. Cupholders abound—there are 13 in the cockpit, and are easily reached by all aboard. Forward of the helm, another large, easily accessed storage compartment awaits PFDs, water toys, and other bulky gear you need for your day out. The curved-glass windshield with center walk-through leads to the smartly designed bow section. Deep seating for four or more is accomplished with finely detailed backrests and seat cushions over three spacious storage areas, or installing the standard filler cushions and walk-thru backrest creates a fully enclosed sun lounge. Below is a second in-floor storage compartment ever deeper than the first. Latching anchor stowage at the bow keeps lines and hardware from underfoot.

The private portside head is easily accessed through a generous, curved fiberglass door. The surprisingly large head compartment is furnished with a standard portable head or an optional porcelain unit. A stainless steel sink is included in the integrated vanity.

The 260 Bowrider is powered by single-engine packages offered by Mercury MerCruiser or Volvo ranging from 280-to 425-horsepower. The shift/throttle with trim switch assures total control at the helm. Livorsi® instrumentation and accessory rocker switches with E-T-A circuit breakers ensure accurate monitoring of all systems. A VHF radio with antenna is optional.

The 260 Bowrider, true to its Formula bloodline, is engineered and built to perfection. From its curved-glass windshield to its integrated swim platform with concealed ladder, it’s sure to capture the imagination and desires of those discriminating boaters who expect utility and sophistication. The 260 Bowrider: more proof that Formula designs and builds boats with people in mind—without sacrificing the quality and performance they demand.
