SunDance Marine Key West Rendezvous
April 24-27th, 2009
A & B Marina, Key West
Jump Under the Sheets and Roll Down the Streets with SunDance Marine at their 2009 Conch Republic Days Key West Rendezvous! The conch Republic independence celebration commemorates the day the Florida Keys “seceded” from the United States to form “the world’s first fifth-world nation.” The island pseudo-republic, whose motto is “We Seceded Where Others Failed,” was born following a 1982 U.S. Border Patrol blockade of the Keys. In protest, the island chain seceded, declared war on the mother country, surrendered 60 seconds later, and demanded one billion dollars in foreign aid. Despite the mysterious nonappearance of the foreign aid, the republic lives by its stated mission to bring more “humor, warmth and respect” to the planet—and that’s a bandwagon (or bed) that SunDance Marine can get aboard.
SunDance Marine will host their second annual Key West Rendezvous April 24-27, 2009, celebrating Conch Republic Days with the thousands of other people who attend this often-televised event. Dockage is already reserved at A & B Marina, right in the heart of Old Town. In fact, SunDance Marine will be getting into the celebration action, along with those that attend the rendezvous, by entering their own bed into the Red Ribbon Bed Race, arguably the oldest bed race in the state of Florida and the oldest event in the Conch Republic Celebration. From the wacky bed race to a lighthearted sea battle featuring tall ships, the Conch Republic’s birthday party showcases the independent and eccentric spirit that characterizes the Florida Keys, and SunDance Marine invites you along to see it all!
This event sold out quickly in 2008, and dockage is again limited. Included with your entry fee of $225 is a full breakfast at “Two Friends Patio Restaurant,” two cocktail parties, farewell dinner at “The Top” LaConcha restaurant, and souvenirs and prizes!
