Burt's 370 Super Sport

In August 2005, I purchased a new 2006 Formula 370 SS from South Austin Marine II, and needless to say, Kenneth Black was a real professional to deal with. At all points along the way, both before and after the sale, Kenneth made sure that I remained very satisfied with bothSouth Austin Marine II and the boat itself---but this is not the purpose of this letter.

This past June, my son had what could have been a very serious accident in our boat. Traveling at night, on a much lower than normal Lake Travis, he grounded the boat, leaving it completely out of water. You can imagine the impact on the hull and the potential for serous injuries to his five passengers. The boat was launched out of the water and onto a newly exposed very rocky bank. It was quite a miracle that there were no injuries...not a single scratch. While the safety of those on the boat was the most important thing, you can also imagine how devastating it was to see my beautiful boat sitting completely out of water on the rocks.

The next morning, I contacted Kenneth. He put me in touch with a towing service with a large crane barge. When I arrived back at the boat, the crane had already picked it up and carefully placed it back in the water. To all of our amazement, the boat didn't have a single leak, and there appeared to be no structural damage. I got in the boat, preparing to be towed to the marina, but thought I would try to lower the outdrives (both were completely out of position, having been tossed around by the rocks onshore) and surprisingly both outdrives could be lowered to the down position and came back into alignment. Both engines started fine, and I was able to idle back to the marina unassisted, albeit with rather odd shaped props. Now that's a well-built boat!

That afternoon Kenneth had the boat picked up from the marina and taken to his shop. He worked diligently with our insurance adjuster, arguing successfully on several points that would make sure the boat was returned to its new condition. The service manager, Brian Ludwig, was fantastic to work with. I was certain the boat was lost for the summer as a significant amount of bottom repair work, full-bottom glass, painting and two new outdrives to install was a tall order. I underestimated Brian. He had the boat back in my slip in brand-new condition by the July 4th weekend. They managed all the repairs to a very high quality in three weeks time during their busiest season. Between the incredible quality on construction of my 370 SS and the outstanding service and support from South Austin Marine II, I'm not sure how it gets better. Please pass along my congratulations to your entire team. You make a fantastic product (this is my second Formula) and you certainly have a fantastic representative in South Austin Marine II.

Sincerely,
Gregg L. Burt
