With the school starting we all want to make the most of our boating time. Weekends fill up with last minute preparations for the upcoming school year (it has started for some) and sporting events. But what better way to do a last hurrah with the family, or your significant other, than to plan a day of boating.
If you are within a few hours of Port Clinton, Ohio or Sandusky, Ohio there are a plethora of places to see and things to do on Lake Erie. No matter your purpose or age, there is something for everyone you want to take on the boat with you. With Put-In-Bay, the Marblehead Lighthouse and Kelleys Island within reach and Cedar Point nearby there isn’t much you can’t do.
If you stop at Put-In-Bay you have your choice in activities for old and young. There is the beautiful Perry’s Peace Monument, a crystal cave, wineries, breweries, shops and many restaurants. All sorts of water activities including parasailing and boat rentals. There are also many ways to explore the island. You can rent golf carts, take bi-plane rides and go by segways and pedicabs. There is even a butterfly house and a chocolate museum. While Put-In-Bay offers the most to do, Kelleys Island is a great quiet spot to take in nature; and seeing the Marblehead Lighthouse is a must.
When time is precious and scarce it’s fun to make the most of what you have. Making memories with loved ones in the boat would top my list as the way to go. A day on the water is better than a day at home.
If you take your boat out for the day in this area let us know how your trip went. Or if you know of fun spots you can boat to and back in a day, let us know and we’ll feature that location. We’ll share it with everyone so they can plan a fun day trip too!
