Spicy Black Bean Hummus



Looking for an easy make ahead snack for a trip out on the boat? Well look no farther. This hummus is completely tailorable to your preferences and has a different flavor mix compared to traditional hummus. You can make this as spicy or mellow as you’d like. Or get creative and add your own flavor spin to it. Serve it with any chip, cracker or veggie you’d like and you have a quick, simple, delicious and healthy snack to keep your energy up out on the water.


  • 1 – 15 ounce can of black beans (drained)
  • 3 garlic cloves
  • The juice of 2 lemons
  • 1.5 tablespoons Tahini
  • 1 jalapeno chopped
  • Dash of crushed red pepper
  • Dash of cumin
  • Salt to taste
  • Drizzle of sesame oil
  • Dash of ground red pepper

DSCF0578 DSCF0580Now here is the easy part, throw the first eight ingredients in a food processor and puree until smooth. Once smooth transfer to dish or container and drizzle with the sesame oil and sprinkle some ground red pepper on top. That is it.

Now serve it with chips, crackers or veggies and you’ll have some happy snackers.

Remember to add, omit or change any ingredient you want. Make this your own and have fun with it!
